If that is a "V" after the four letters on the sword (from right to left), then this is the 5th Alternative description is "Sha'ar Ha'Gay" ("gate of the valley") battalion; probably issued in1948.   8. Jerusalem coin. Shows the Tower of David of the Old City in Jerusalem. Association uncertain.   9. States "Gur Aryeh Yehuda" (a biblical name for "Lion" or "Lion of Judea") and "For the Defense of the Homeland." This may be from the 1920's Gur Arieh Jehuda – Jehuda is a lions cub – Symbol of Jerusalem – For the Defence of the Motherland. Alternative description is War of Independence - Jerusalem - Volunteer from Tel Aviv.   10. "M.K.1" on the backdrop of the Tower of David Jerusalem; the initials probably mean "Permanent [military] Base #1" ("Makhane Kavuah 1"). This may also be “Communication Platoon, Number 1.”[worn on chest] In either case it is not likely that this designated the high command since that was based in Tel Aviv from 1947 until the present. If featuring an image of the Old City, which Israel lost in 1948, this badge would date from around 1947-48.   11. One source identifies this as “Transportation Corp,” (worn on hat). Another is “unknown.” The letters, SHD, which pronounce as "Shahad" are probably the abbreviation for "Sherut Hadrakha" - "training service", probably an instructor's hat or shirt badge; probably pre-State and also so since the sword emblem lacks the olive branch and Star of the IDF's emblem; probably from 1946-48.   12. Hezekiyahu Jerusalem …One source identifies the piece as “Engineering Corp” (worn on chest). Text is "Khizkiyahu Yerushalayim" - a reference to King Khizkiyahu; could be related to relief attempts to break the 1948 seige.   13. Youth Corps-Jerusalem (worn on chest). Gadna Jerusalem – Youth Movement Armed Forces … "Gadnah Yerushalayim" - pre-military youth organization ("Gadnah") from Jerusalem; features the Gadnah's emblem of a crossbow and arrow; uncertain as to its significance beyond being a troop emblem.   14. May be Officers school (worn on chest). Or, Defense of Jerusalem Badge… War of Independence - Jerusalem - "ET ZION Brigade" … 1948 Jerusalem combatants emblem, for those who fought on the Jerusalem front in the War of Independence.   15. M.N.A. Batallion. War of Independence - Hagana - Jeep Commando. The meaning of the 3 initials (right to left) is uncertain; it is possibly "Battalion-level 'Manah'". With the triangle symbol it might relate to the Jewish "Notrim" of the Palestine Police, whose unit symbols were color-variations of triangles. They had a branch called the "Mishmar ha'Na" (mobile guard), whose initials could have been similar to those on this tag. It is possible that this badge references that same branch). The vehicle is similar to the type they used. This item dates to around 1939-46.   16. “Air Force Jerusalem.” War of Independence - Jerusalem - Air Force. May have been awarded for air supply support to the Old City in 1948 (worn on chest).   17. One source considers this “unknown,” though it may be a badge worn born fighters, War of Independence – Hagana.   18. Home Guard. Text is "Mishmar Ha'Bayit" - literally "home guard"/"guardian of the house." Another interpretation is Citizen guard of Jerusalem (worn on chest). The Old City Wall styling at the top it may be a reference to those who fought for the Jewish Quarter of the Old City in 1948, although those were mostly members of the Irgun underground movement.   19. Lochamey Chyrut Israel. Lech”y or "Lechi" underground movement emblem with two fingers together (worn on chest). Text is the quotation, “If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither."   20. Seems to pertain to the Communist party in Israel known as, Mapam. Israeli and Soviet symbol. Some Palmach members were associated with Mapam; the Old City Wall theme may be a wartime connection between Palmach veterans and their ideological affiliation.   21. The Qatamon Medal. Medal of Merit for the conquest of Qatamon, which was a part of Jerusalem). The front has again the quotation, "If I forget thee Jerusalem..."   22. Chemed. "Khamad" or "Khemed," which is likely the abbreviation for "Kheyl Madah", or "Chemed Science Corps” (worn on chest). One source has it as not military related, possibly belonging to Gadna.   23. Elisheva . The text is "Elisha" and likely a Medical Corps insignia (worn on chest). There is a hospital group in Israel called Elisha, and this may be an old emblem belonging to their staff, judging by the red colored Star of David. May be related to the ambush of medics in an armored convoy, who were en route to Hadassah Hospital in 1948.   24. Alumim Jerusalem. The text reads,"The Secret Ones – Jerusalem." One source has it as possibly related to a Gadna troop as it features a bow and arrow. Another source has it as possibly a Youth corp of Jerusalem.   25. Ergon Tzavay Leumy EZ"L ( worn on chest ). Emblem of the Irgun underground movement.   26. Ben Nun, or "Ben-Noon." Related to two attacks on Latrun in May of 1948. The text is "Bin Nun"; may also be the name for a Gadna troop, since it bears the bow and arrow emblem.   27. The text is "Beit Khoron" or “Beit Choron.” Likely the Beit Khoron Regiment (worn on chest); the medallion may have a Zionist significance from the period of the War of Independence. The battle for Beit Khoron, as it's called, dates from the time of Yehuda Ha'Maccabi, who defeated Siron of Syria who was trying to attack Jerusalem; Siron was defeated and this Maccabi victory rallied the youth of Israel to join the forces of the Maccabis. The settlement Beit Khoron was only founded in 1977, north of Jerusalem.   28. Jerusalem Police Badge. Jerusalem Police cap badge (circa 1948).   29. This may be a convoy commander's emblem, or an emblem issued to one completing a commando officers training course ( worn on chest ). The vehicle is a War of Independence armored vehicle, and the sword and olive branch together are an officer's insignia ( circa 1948 ).   30. Identification uncertain; "Kh. A. N" stands for "Khativat Noar." This is possibly a youth brigade. The letter “A” in the middle may be a reference to the cactus, “sabra,” which is the slang name for a native born Israeli. This could be a Gadna emblem.   31. Jerusalem Convoy Drivers. War of Independence. This designates drivers of convoys to Jerusalem (1948). The vehicles were armored and supply vehicles to besieged Jerusalem.   32. Military attorneyship (worn on hat).

Кроме того, я не верю что это может быть подарком Менахема Бегина кому-либо.

Уж больно сборная солянка, да и доказательств никаких. Кроме того, Бегин не стал бы дарить знак номер 20 никаким образом.

Короче, деньги очень нужны товарищу.

Собрание более, чем крутое. У меня только 10 из них. Особенно интересует, что за знак под номером 32. Где-то я его уже показывал, долго сомневались, местный ли он. Эта подборка только добавляет уверенности, что знак израильский или пре.

Этот снимок сделал кто-то из коллег, кажется в Тель-Авивском музее армии на улице Эйлат. В связи с появлением этого лота напрашивается вопрос - стенд ещё на месте?
