Рекомендуемые сообщения

Hello. I recently discovered family photo of my relative in Imperial Russian Army uniform from Ist World War.

Could you help me identify what unit did he serve and what rank did he have? And maybe point me where to learn more about his unit or even his service?

The name of thre relative is Michal Kobylinski, he was born 16.09.1890 in Zagorow in Kalisz Governorate. According to his cv he was conscribed into army in 1914 and served in various units in Smolensk, Kiev, Moscow, Tambov, Piatigorsk, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and on Turkish front. He wrote that he graduated from "officer school in Caucasus" in 1916 as junior lieutenant.

Thank you for any help!

Dear Colleague, your relative truly described everything in the autobiography. In this photo he is represented in the form of the officer of the Russian Imperial Army, in a rank the  junior lieutenant. (praporschik). It is the first officer rank. On his shoulder straps we see number-113-it means that it served in the 113th spare regiment which was located in Pyatigorsk and prepared replenishment for military units which were at war on the Turkish front. In the Caucasus, in the years of World War I, there were several schools for training of officers, so-called school of  junior lieutenant.(praporschik). For example in Tiflis, Telav and in Dushet them was six. Your relative quite could study in one of them.

I apologize you, for perhaps not the correct translation of the text

Do you know a middle name of your relative? His father was called Franz? If this is so, then here to you still this on him. He got at first to Pyatigorsk, the private 132 substitute battalions, on treatment. In 1915, and from there it was possibly sent study to school of officers.   https://gwar.mil.ru/heroes/chelovek_gospital23469460/?backurl=%2Fheroes%2F%3Flast_name%3D%D0%9A%D0%BE%D0%B1%D1%8B%D0%BB%D0%B8%D0%BD%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B9%26first_name%3D%D0%9C%D0%B8%D1%85%D0%B0%D0%B8%D0%BB%26groups%3Dawd%3Aptr%3Afrc%
